New Year is just around the corner and as we stop and reflect on all the blessings we have received from God this past year we know that we did not deserve them. They were given to us because God loves us so much and wants us to receive all His blessings.

Did you ever think "Why, what have I done to deserve so many blessings and how can I repay God?" Of course God isn't asking for pay, but he is asking us to step forward and serve him in this world by bringing Christian love and the words of the Bible to our fellow man. You say you have no talent to serve God. God doesn't require a job interview. He's not prejudiced or partial. He'll use you in spite of who you are, where you've been, or what you look like.

Here are some of the people he used who you would not judge to be the best candidates for spreading Christianity. Moses stuttered, John Mark was rejected by Paul, Timothy had ulcers, Amos' only training was pruning fig trees, Jacob was a liar, David had an affair, Solomon was too rich, Jesus was too poor, Abraham was too old, David was too young, Peter was afraid of death, Lazarus was dead, Naomi was a widow, Paul was a murderer and so was Moses, Jonah ran from God, Miriam was a gossip, Gideon and Thomas both doubted, Jeremiah was depressed and suicidal, Elijah was burned out, John the Baptist was a loudmouth, Martha was a worry-wart, Mary was lazy, Samson had long hair, Noah got drunk.

Yet with all their limitations God used them. When I was a child, one of my friends' father was confined to a wheel chair. Yet every Sunday he came to church and taught our Sunday school class. Going to their house was a favorite thing for us kids, he always played games with us, talked to us about Jesus and what was right and wrong. And he always had lemon drops to share. We are God's messengers and in spite of where we've been, or what we look like, if we accept God's call to serve He will make mincemeat of our limitations.

Now is the time to add serving God to your New Year's Resolutions. Make this the best year of your life. You will love serving God in whatever capacity you select. He will always be there for you 24/7. Try it, you'll like it. "And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him." (Colossians 3:17) NAS

For by giving, we receive the special joy God's love showers on us. I don't like rain, but I will rejoice in all the showers of love that I receive from God. Won't you join me in the shower. No you don't have to get undressed. It's just come as you are. "And let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we shall reap if we do not grow weary." (Galatians 6:3) NAS

"Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your toil is not in vain in the Lord." (1st Corinthians 15-58) NAS
