There is a group of rocks in the corner of my yard. They are rocks of many different colors, shapes and sizes. Some are as small as peas, some as large as a shoe box. Some are black, some are white, some are both black and white, and some are a combination of colors. Some have jagged edges, some are smooth and some have holes in them.

I thought, as I looked at them, how similar they were to the people on earth. God designed these rocks just as he designed the people. (Genesis 1:27 – "And God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created male and female") Each one treasured for their different features. Aren't you glad we don't all look alike?

Like the rocks, each one of us looks different on the outside, but we are all the same on the inside. (Colossians 1:16 – "For in Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible. All things have been created through Him and for Him.") Too often we judge people by what they look like on the outside depending on where their ancestors were born. But often they are our Friends or Doctors or Teachers or Neighbors. I hope the day will come when we do not categorize people, but see them as God sees them. Each person uniquely made according to God's design. God wants us to love each other for what is in our hearts and to be thankful that we are like the rocks in my garden. Different shapes, different color skin, but all blessed to be children of God who by faith have Jesus as their Savior.

God judges us by our words and deeds in life. We only have to ask Him to come into our hearts and let Him guide us. He will put words in our mouth and guide us in all our daily deeds. He will give us the strength to bear all the illness, disappointments and bad things that happen to us. We will reap a life filled with joy and love. Each rock was placed on earth for a purpose and so were each of us. I pray that each one of us will respond and fulfill God's purpose for our lives. In John 13:35, Jesus said, "By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another."
